SUSE7
The SUSE publications committee is happy to report that we have launched a couple special collections of publications inspired by the SUSE7 and SFS meetings that were held in San Juan Puerto Rico in May of 2025. 

1. The first collection, a special issue in Freshwater Science, will focus on tropical urban aquatic ecosystems and Puerto Rico.  We have about 5 papers proposed so far, but are looking for others.  Freshwater Science will publish all the papers together, as a unit, as soon as they all go through the review process.  We are cleared to start submitting them now, with a special issue deadline of March 15, 2027. It is likely they will be published about a year after that. 
   
2. The second collection, Urbanization and Waterway Ecology, Instream and Beyond, is in the journal PLOS Water, and includes a wide range of urban aquatic ecosystem work, with 12 proposed manuscripts so far, as well as a specific focus area (micro collection) on Macrotrash in Urban Waterways, which has 6 proposed papers so far.   This group of papers will be published ad hoc, as they are submitted and complete review, with a deadline to close-out the collection of March 15, 2027, as well.  

We are excited about the potential impact of these collections and strongly encourage folks to consider submitting manuscripts in any of the collections.  Please reach out to Mateo Scoggins ([email protected]) with any questions about the Freshwater Science pathway or Sarah H. We are pleased to share that SUSE5 produced not just one but two special series of urban streams papers! See the special series in the journal Urban Ecosystems, edited by the SUSE5 publications committee. We are also proud to showcase the SUSE5 special series in Freshwater Science (v41, n3, 2022), which includes a BRIDGES cluster.
