The Symposium on Urbanization and Stream Ecology is an interdisciplinary meeting held approximately every 3-5 years with the specific aim to further the scientific study of stream ecosystems in urban landscapes.
Save the Date: SUSE 7 will be 13-16 May, 2025 in San Juan, Puerto Rico!
Visit the SUSE 7 page to learn more!
SUSE6 took place from 29 May to 1 June 2023 in Brisbane, Australia. Catch up on the exciting happenings by visiting the SUSE6 page. We are working on two special issues/collections inspired by the urban freshwater science presented at SUSE6. Our special collection in the journal PLOS Water will be accepting submissions until late August and is open to anyone! Please consider publishing your work as part of our special collection, and tell your friends and colleagues to do the same! Find out more at PLOS Water's Latitudes blog.
To keep the urban stream conversation flowing between our in-person meetings, SUSE has inaugurated a webinar series. Join us for great presentations and discussion about urban streams with scientists and practitioners from around the world!
Big news: SUSE has a new "umbrella"
We're excited to announce that SUSE is teaming up with the Society for Freshwater Science (SFS) to start a new "Urban Chapter"! The Urban Chapter of SFS will provide a new home for SUSE, allowing us to leverage the resources available to our new umbrella organization.
What's going to change? We'll still be SUSE! You shouldn't notice major changes in our communications or programming - you'll still get emails from our email address and we'll still host regular webinars in addition to our flagship meeting every 3-5 years. However, access to new and more resources might allow us to do even cooler things! Do I need to join SFS to stay involved? No! You can still attend SUSE meetings and webinars whether or not you're an SFS member. That said, we hope you'll consider if SFS membership is right for you! (If you join SFS, don't forget to add membership to the Urban Chapter!) If you have questions, please reach out to a member of the SUSE Advisory Board. |
